Tips for better results
- “Title Case (smart)” keeps small words such as “of”, “and” and “the” in lower case, except at the start and end. Style guides differ, so check the one you must follow.
- Programming styles split your text into words first. They also split joined words, so “userID” becomes “user_id”.
- Sentence case lower-cases everything and then capitalises the first letter of each sentence, so names and acronyms in the middle become lower case. Re-capitalise them by hand.
Limitations you should know about
- Capital letters of names, acronyms and “I” are not detected. Sentence case and title case apply simple rules, not a grammar check.
- Case rules follow the Unicode standard, not a particular language. Special cases such as Turkish dotted and dotless I are not handled by language.
- Programming styles keep only letters and numbers. Punctuation and symbols are removed.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between title case and sentence case?
Title case capitalises the main words, as in a book title. Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence and proper names, as in normal writing.
What is camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case?
They are ways to write several words as one name without spaces. camelCase uses a capital letter at each new word, snake_case uses underscores, and kebab-case uses hyphens. Programmers use them for variable names, files and web addresses.
Is my text uploaded?
