About WebAssetKit

WebAssetKit is a small collection of free tools for the jobs people keep needing to do with images, icons, colours and CSS, built so that your files never have to leave your device.

Why it exists

Many “free” image sites ask you to upload your pictures to a server, make you wait, add watermarks or push you to sign up. Modern browsers are powerful enough to do most of this work locally, so that is what these tools do. A photo you compress here is read, processed and saved by your own browser; there is nothing for us to store, lose or leak.

What you can do here

• Shrink, resize, convert, crop and rotate images (Image Compressor, Resizer, Converter, Crop & Rotate).
• Inspect what an image reveals about you before sharing it (Metadata Viewer).
• Make favicons, social media images, placeholders and QR codes.
• Design CSS gradients, shadows, corner radii and colour palettes, and check text contrast against WCAG.

How we keep it honest

• No tool is listed until it works. Each tool is tested with automated checks (including decoding the files it produces with independent software) before it appears on the site.
• Limits are written down. Every tool page has a “Limitations” section. For example, browsers can open AVIF and HEIC images but cannot save them, and PNG compression here works by reducing colours.
• The tutorials are written to be used. They solve a specific problem, with steps you can follow and links to the tool that does the job. If something is out of date or wrong, please tell us.

How the site is funded

Hosting costs money. The site may show Google AdSense advertising, which is always labelled “Advertisement”, kept away from buttons and controls, and loaded only if you accept it. See the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for details. There are no paid features and no sign-ups.
